Why We Must Stand in Unity to Support Local Businesses

The Lebanese economic situation

Lebanon has been already going through a recession for the past decade. The economic situation is deteriorating leaving almost null hope for the Lebanese citizens to even think about a comfortable future in his/her country. In addition to the unfortunate economic crisis, the pandemic began in 2019 just when all Lebanese citizens thought that was it until an explosion happened on the 4th of August that took the beautiful Beirut that we all know for good this time since nothing can heal what this explosion broke.

The Lebanese citizens found themselves once again hungry, homeless, and surrounded by chaos. Based on pure observations, this series of horrible incidents led to chaos, as such, caused many citizens to leave the country expecting a better life somewhere else, while some stayed for various reasons. But they all share the same hope that Lebanon will rise again.

Reasons to stand united to support local businesses

Moving on, shopping locally can revitalize the monetary cycle in specific areas of the business since such businesses are more likely to keep the money flowing. To add, local businesses probably hire people from their community which helps increase employment, especially when many huge ones are shutting down due to bankruptcy. Local businesses are usually also more eco-friendly, and they’re also pocket-friendly.

The citizens must adopt Robin Hood’s ideology where they don’t have to steal but focus more on making the poor richer instead of making the rich more greedy. In addition, the Lebanese brothers and sisters who found hope somewhere peaceful can share some with his/her local businesses. In other words, people can donate to local shops to help them boost their business. In other words, if possible local businesses can be donated to, to help them boost their business.

On another note, supporting and helping others boosts self-esteem, spreads goodness, and makes you feel better.
Buying local is done for a good cause because people behind those businesses are trying to pursue their education or providing for their families.

To end with an example, Sara is a 20-year-old student at university who lost her home and has to take care of her parents’ lives off her local business of sewing beautiful wedding dresses. In this case and dark times, still preferring to buy a high-fashion designer dress of the same quality from a famous designer makes no sense at all.

In unity, there’s more power. Awareness should rise around the importance of local shopping due to its numerous economic benefits.
SAVE THE WORLD, SAVE YOUR COUNTRY, SHOP LOCAL.

  1. Beautiful points and I fully agree. It is these rough times that bring people together as they always did for centuries in this country. But regarding the Robin Hood imagery, I believe we, the citizens, are the ones being stolen from, not stealing, yet should still support each other by shopping locally. Good post
