How To Support Lebanese Local Businesses

Between an ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, an economic crisis, and a world on the verge of World War III, this year has so far been extremely hard for all local businesses, especially in Lebanon. Additionally, numerous shops, cafes, restaurants had to close their doors for a while because of the damages their businesses suffered from after the Beirut port blast on August 4, 2020. As a Lebanese citizen, I think it’s the duty of every one of us to help each other, as much as we can, in such difficult times. So, I am going to share with you today some tips and tricks on how to support your local businesses.

Support your local businesses!

Some Tips To Support Local Businesses

  • COVID-19 fears and governmental restrictions wreaked havoc on many local restaurants with many suffering huge financial losses. Now is a great time to eat local by ordering food to-go from your favorite local restaurant. Even if you are unable to eat in, most local restaurants will gladly accept to-go orders. Those sales will be vital to their survival.
  • Moreover, local and internet shopping are also options. Keep an eye out for shops that are still open in Lebanon. However, don’t forget about internet businesses. The greatest benefit of online shopping is its convenience. Thanks to the advance of technology, you can buy anything you want from the comfort of your own home. Online stores are open 24/7 and accessible from anywhere around the world. Thus, it is easy to incorporate online shopping into your life no matter how busy you may be. Recently, I discovered this website, ‘Watani”, that exactly fits the description. They offer a wide range of products diveded in various categories (such as beauty and personal care, arts and crafts, etc.) that are solely made in Lebanon by local businesses.
  • My last advice would be sharing their social media postings. Keep an eye out and stay up-to-date with what they have to offer via Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms they use. Furthermore, if you enjoy the things you purchase from a local store, tell your friends and family about it. It carries a lot more weight when you suggest them to buy from a small spot. It will increase the visibility and exposure of such local companies. This strategy is known as the “word-of-mouth” marketing.

Conclusion

To conclude this article, I wanted to say that there are a lot of advice one can come up with to encourage people to support their local businesses. I think that each one of us should try as much as they can to do so. Personally, I tried my hand at online shopping for the first time about a year ago. I mainly bought from local shops for clothes and skin care products (such as ALOELEB). It has really become an easy way for me to do my purchases. At the same time, it is helping the growth of shops all over Lebanon. What about you? What are some of the steps that you have taken to support out local businesses? Do you have any advice on the matter?
